It was an exciting, high energy event to attend, but very little recognition was given to the farmers and we actually had an awful experience participating - we didn’t receive a fair price for a whole pig, we were forced to use a butcher we didn’t care for who ultimately ended up stealing half of our pig and selling it in his retail shop (he openly admitted doing so in an email he didn’t know we were cc-ed in) and the event didn’t create any additional marketing or advertising for the farmers. Despite their claims, the event is not really about heritage pork (because they’ll use standard commercial pigs) or supporting local farmers, but rather a chef competition.
